What do you mean "at lights when gpoing into gear"? You mean the oil lamp comes on? Generator lamp comes on? headlights? what?
As for stalling.

1- idle speed low or set rich, loading up.
2- float level hi or float needle leaking, or both. causing loading up & too rich to run.
3- Timeing or electrical, like weak battery and can only get good spark from the generator when up to speed above idle.
Probably and possibly none of the above, may need more diagnosing.
Anyhow, please explain the light comeing on, I'm not too clued up on that one yet......Joe

Are you running a stock points ignition or an electronic module? If it's electronic, I suspect you have a bad battery. When you get to idle the generator will not put out much power. A bad battery will draw the voltage down especially if you have the lights turned on. The electronic modules will usually shutdown at around 9 volts.

If you still have points, you've got something else going on.

i'm running electronic ignition,i'll have to check battery.going to try increasing idle in mourning. head lite appears good when you turn ign. on. may try to get load tested.

Points work at lower voltages than the space-age stuff?

Sounds like a life-saver to me!

Kinda almost sounds like a clutch issue... Idles in neutral, engage clutch, put in gear, stall because of the load on the clutches not fully disengaging... ? Does the bike lunge at all when in gear and clutch engaged?
