1949 WL - Forward Controls

#1

Post by 1962300 »

I bought a new set of Hollywood Bars, inclusive of new spirals, plungers & cables.
(Because a friend ran into me, thus bending the stock bars I had on the bike & always liked the look of the optional bars)

So....
The new controls have not been as smooth as I know they should be.
It is time for me to tear into it & determine what the issues are.

When I remove the cables from the carburetor and timer....
The controls twist back & forth fine.

When they are attached & cables routed as I believe they are to be routed; they do not twist smoothly.
Any helpful hints?

PS - My controls are revesed, like an Indian would be.
Throttle control on the left (tank shifter on the right)
Timer advance control on the right
And that makes the factory cable routing inconsistent with what I have read in the Palmers Books.

Thanks!
