How did that happen?
The push rod rides inside the main shaft and spins with it. There is a throw-out bearing on the right end to accommodate the rotation. And if the clutch cable is properly adjusted with no preload, and minimal operating clearance between the fork and the TO bearing, there should be no wear in the pushrod. Something ain't right......

I agree. If the range of travel is not correct, the rod breaks off the bearing.

Thanks guys. Another question. The piece that meets the bearing seems to be a few degrees off parallel with the pivot holes. Is that normal. The arm and sprocket cover were replaced some time after the rod. Thanks

The only broken one I have seen had had home made pivot bolts on the clutch release arm. These had fouled the push rod bearing as they were too long & when the clutch was operated , the bearing & housing snapped off the rod !!

The release arm surface where the bearing hit it should be a smooth radius (convex) and well greased to allow it to rotate smoothly as the cable pulls it inward. If it has badly worn flat areas or is not properly shaped and lubed it can cause flex between the rod and bearing and creating the break. The pivots also need to be kept well greased.

With help from Panhead I have a pic of the arm for you guys to see what I was talking about. Hope someone has one to compare. If not I will have to check the alignment real close. The arm and cover were replaced some time after the rod making me wonder about the arm. I must add thanks to Panhead also.

There are two pivot trunion bolts. I thought one was left hand thread, but I may be wrong about that...

@JUGPAM11 ; no, the convex piece should be parallel to the bolts.

Your arm is creating oneven pressure on the bearing now..
So replace the arm or rerivet the convex piece

Pascal, I was thinking the same as you but most of pics on line look like mine. Are they all made in the same place in India or China? Be nice to see an oem part right now.

The fulcrum in your clutch release arm is bent, that's why it's not parallel with the pivot bolt holes.
It needs to be replaced. I've had good luck with the colony one and it comes with new rivets. Colony part # 8920-3

LowBrow has one on eBay:

I have had good luck with this vendor, but probably best to deal with them directly as the eBay Nazis like to tack on sales taxes that I doubt ever get reported....

But if I buy the fulcrum and mount in the same holes I will not gain a thing. Right?

Try putting the holes in the right location, right?
