Front axle hubcap removal on 1965 E Glide

#1

Post by electraglide65 »

Hi, I have been trying to remove axle to inspect/change fron brakes and service bearings. There is a chrome looking hubcap on right front side of axle, opposite brake. I cannot find set screw hole, or anything else that is holding this hubcap to the axle, and I cannot remove it with hubcap attached. anyone have any info? Thanks, Gary

The hubcap is a spacer. Pull the axle and the hubcap will fall out.

They can stick pretty good sometimes. Put something soft between the hubcap and the leg before tapping the axle, to prevent dinging the hub cap up.

Are you talking about the hub cap itself or the small (about 1 1/2 inch diameter) decorative cap on big end of axle?
