What makes you say it is a '62?

All 1958 - 1964 frames carry production dates on the top motor mount (according to Bruce Palmer).

The frames have production numbers ( if its org. ) at the back where the swing arm attaches and the swing arms have them where the axle attaches. As far as the motor you said they switched cases , if it doesn't have numbers on the boss its a repop case ( STD , S&S ect. ). The # s on the frame are like 78443-62 the last # usally means the year it was produced. You say the Title says 62 , does it have numbers on the left motor case number boss ?

The dates on the top motormount are easy to find, but I have never seen production numbers on Duo swingarms nor mounts. Got any pics, FourthGear?

The only late Duo/early Electra production numbers on frames that I, or my State authorities, are aware of are on the left side of the headstock, ~1/8" stamps, usually a letter followed by four digits.
The trannycase (with similar stamps), and motor bellys of course, are the only other Pan production numbers that I can think of off hand.

(Technically, '65's have #'d starter motors.)

Since the machine is "personalized" anyway, I suggest finding an experienced framemeister to put the hardware you already have to your likeing. If you are in the Midwest, post me direct for my preferred provider.

Many of the frame forgings (the parts where tubing intersects) have HD part numbers with -suffixes of the year they were blueprinted.

These are not production nor VIN numbers.

It suggests, apparently, that section of the frame, at least, is '53 to '57.

Please look upon the top motormount for a date code. The mount is two sheets formed around the spine of the frame to extend from the gastank/seat-tee brackets down to the big tab between the cylinderheads. There will be a large letter to denote the month, and a digit to denote the year. Tell us what you find!

Your right about the castings , I will look at my frame a little closer when I get home tonight and send some photos to ya . both my frame and swing arm have the ( I guess ) casting numbers . It does narrow it down.
