frame I.D.
Read somewhere here in the forum the frame manufacture date is stamped on the top mount, right side. What do the numbers and letters mean? Thanks, Gary

The way I understand it, January through December = A through L6hds wrote:Read somewhere here in the forum the frame manufacture date is stamped on the top mount, right side. What do the numbers and letters mean? Thanks, Gary
The numbers are usually the years
Example: C9 can be March 1959 (or 69, 49 etc depending on the model)

Re: frame I.D.
The stamping started in '52, so no help on earlier frames. When it mixes two years, Like '59 and '69, there are many identifying differences to determine which it is. The alpha numeric code identifies when the frame was made, the model it belongs on can be a little more of an issue. The model year generally started in September, so July and August production frames are often for the next years model. Then it gets into how high in the production run your serial number is.The way I understand it, January through December = A through L
