EL Cylinders?

#1

Post by kehughes »

Did EL cylinders not have the casting #'s/tags on them? Everytime I see some, no #'s. Or does this mean they're aftermarket?

Original 48 and early 49 cylinders are stamped, later 49 through 52 have casting dates, EL and FL.

Thanks for the reply. So, is the 120-48 a common number for both EL and FL? Or for just one? Im looking for some 49 EL cylinders.

KEHughes!

My '49 EL cylinders have nothing at all upon their bases.

I am not aware of anyone producing cylinders with the proper smaller finnage.

so, If Im looking for oem el cylinders, I shouldn't be too concerned if no stamping or casting?
I have a lead on some standards(but will have to be bored before using) with no broken fins for $200, but no castings. Don't want to get ripped off.

Yes,
Unless there are now reproductions with correct 61" finnage.
That price seems decent for even modern castings.
