George, several things including the following indicate that wasn’t stamped at the factory. I can’t see any serifs on the 2s and the 3 in your photo. But for a factory-stamped 1952 Panhead serial number the usual 2 has a vertical serif at bottom right and the usual 3 has a vertical serif at top left as per my example below. It’s strange that there are two different 5s in your photo. The first 5 is close to the usual type but the second 5 isn’t.

However, the case may be 1952. In your photo I see grooves in the top of the case for top end oil return and those grooves were used for 1948–52 Panheads. Eric
