Head Identification
I came across a pair of heads. One front, one rear. They are O-ring intakes. The front head has casting numbers on top, under the pan cover.
The rear head has casting numbers on the underside between the pushrod holes. My questions concern the placement of the numbers AND
deciphering what year they are. I'm thinking the 56 might be on all the heads up to 1962. Anyone know for sure ? Thanks in advance.

Re: Head Identification
16700-56 and 16701-56 used from 56 to 65.
Casting date not clear, may be 60 heads.

Re: Head Identification
They did, at least the part number, it ends in -63.I'm surprised they didn't change the number for the top oilers...
But the undrilled one retained the -56 number.

Re: Head Identification
Thanks for the information. It looks like the front head is the later "big fin" type and the rear is the early '56 type.
I'll get 'em cleaned up and see what I have to get repaired.
