Hi all,
I would like to hear from anybody who has run an Andrews A grind in a pan. I come up with .011" clearance between the #1 exhaust lobe ( I think that is the one) and the timer gear. I could cut the gear if it is imperitive that I do so, but would rather not. This thing was running an A grind when I pulled it down but I didn't check that clearance. That cam is gone now, but I can't imagine it was any different than this one. Please advise if you have run into this, and if you ran it close and got away with it, or cut the gear. Thanks,
Scott

I had a A grind, it had no clearance issues, it had plenty of clearance,
I did not grind the gear,
if you need more clearance,
all you have to do is chamfer the gear, a little goes a long way.

I wonder why this one is so close? I was going to trim the gear on the lathe if need be, as it is about two thirds of the lobe width that overlaps the gear. I'll just take .015 or so off, that should be enough on top of the .011.
One step forward two or three or four back. Oh well it beats my evo which is no fun at all, it just runs and runs, 51K now and minor oil seepage at base gaskets. how boring is that? LOL Plus my thumb gets sore from starting the damn thing.

The sore thumb sucks but you'd look like such a fool kicking the handlebar...
