Adjusting Crane hydraulic units

#1

Post by 57pan »

I'm getting ready to install some new Crane hyd. units in my lifters and I'm just a little puzzled by the instructions that were included for adjusting them.
I'm familiar with the normal procedure: adjust it till all the slack is out of the of the pushrod then turn it out 3.5 turns.
The instructions that came with the Crane units say: extend the pushrod until the spring on the hydraulic unit is fully compressed. Then rotate the pushrod back 9 "flats", 1 1/2 turns.
Has anyone had any experience with these particular hyd. units?
