What does this timing mark mean?

Post by Faustmill »

65 FLH. Auto advance, single points. Is this double line timing mark TDC or 35 degrees before TDC? My Clymer manual does not cover this type of mark. I am assuming it is 35 degrees before TDC but am not sure. While on the subject, the manual says to idle the bike between 1500 and 2000 rpm when using a timing light -- so the points are at full advance at this rpm, right? Thanks.

That double mark is the front cylinder "retard"mark for use with a strobe light.
