Belly numbers

I was wondering if it is possible to trace the origin, or correct vin number of a Pan motor by using the belly numbers. Thanks Whitey

Whitey!

It depends upon how far back...
Illinois authorities were able to do it for a '63, but I guess a fire destroyed earlier records somewhere around '57 or so.
