Chain oiler Screw

#1

Post by Eric S »

My chain oiler screw for the primary chain has had the nut removed and has one thin washer between it and the pump body. Will this shut the adjuster off? I seem to getting a lot of oil in the case running. Thanks

A setup like what you describe, with varying numbers of washers used to adjust the oiling, was standard until early 1950. After that they went to the locknut on the screw

Thanks for the reply! Do all washers need to be removed to shut it completely off? Thanks

Take 'em all off and see if the screw bottoms out. (Also inspect the screw to make sure it's not gouged. Might be time to replace it if it's been tourqued down too tight and corrupted.)
