can anyone suggest an additional source to the Clymer and '48 - '57 Panhead service manual for a precedure on rebuilding the stock oil pump? I have no oil return, the line is not clogged, and have been told the most likely problem is a sheared Woodruff key. Got the rebuild kit and it's my first time through this prcedure. Just wanna fix this and not break anything else.
is there a special tool needed to remove the oil pump gears?
Thanks!

Gears are a slip-fit on the shaft. No special tools. Your OEM (or reprint) service manual is the best source, next to working next to a builder.

Of course-if you do have a sheared woodruff key-the gear may no longer be a slip fit on teh shaft-it may be stuck pretty tightly to it.
