Oil pressure

#1

Post by white1j0 »

I just started noticing my oil light coming on after I ride for about 10 miles on my "52 Pan, I switched to a gauge and I'm getting 30lbs. when cold but after about 5 miles it drops to around 20lbs. at about 45mph, and at idle drops to below 5lbs., I'm running 50w oil, any suggestions?

With the engine running look in the oil tank and see that oil is returning / flowing, If it is you should be ok.
Go to the knowledge base and archives to find many posts on oil light coming on after engine gets hot.
It's not about pressure, it's about oil flow.

Is it possible to get oil returning to oil tank and not have oil going to top end ?

If it is possible and that happened I'm thinking you would know because of the noise it would be making from lack of lubrication. I'm also thinking the noise would start up well within a ten mile ride.

White---Sounds like its running good!--Even if you went to heavier oil ,That light will come on at every light you catch!--As soon as pull off & the light goes off ,Have fun with it!---Respectfully Richie
