oil pump bushing replacement

#1

Post by 6hds »

To anyone who has done this, I can make an adapter to either pull or slide hammer the bushing out. After pressing or tapping the new bushing in, is the interference fit tight enough to have to re-size the bushing for the driveshaft fit? (buying parts from V-Twin) Thaanks, Gary

When you press the bushing in the id will get smaller, you will probably need to ream to correct size.

Find the spec for fit. Size accordingly . Who makes the bushing?

I'm getting the bushing from V-twin. Have the HD shop manual and don't think the fit spec is in there. Where is a good place to look. Thanks, Gary

gary, i was going to change that bushing out on my 65 also until one of the very knowledgable members of this forum advised against it.his reasoning was that those bushing seldom wear out and the risk of marring that machined surface is not worth the gain if any on the oil pressure.
