Smoke from breather

My '50 Pan billows clouds of smoke from the breather. I am running a belt primary so I just ran a short hose from the case to the trans sprocket to help keep the rear chain oiled. Whenever I come to a stop it looks like a cloud of white smoke wafting up from around the bike. I took a compression check today and the cylinders were about 85 and 90 psi.

I think I got a handle on this smoking problem. I screwed off the cap on the oil pump and lifted out the spring. I didn't have any means to lift out the ball, and oil was oozing out so I put back the spring and cap. I figured that I would have to pull the oil pump and disassemble it. Well I guess whatever was lodged in the ball and seat area must have cleared. The billowing cloud of smoke is gone.
