solid lifter adjustment
How do you adjust solid lifters, (my first set I ever had) I brought the piston up, both valves closed, as everyones said, adjusted em till there was no play, but I can still spin em, but I can push down on the lifter and compress it more. Is that where I should be adjusting the zero clearence from?

Some of the solid lifter conversions have springs under them, I guess for cusioning effect or just to take up lash. You need to pull one to see if its got the spring in there and there should be no up or down play. I set mine to need two fingers to spin them or I should say turn them. I always remove the springs if there but thats up to you they do work with them in there .

Beware of solid replacement kits for hydraulics that have a spring within them.
They only confuse the issue, nothing more.
Remove the springs and start all over.
Note also that aluminum rod kits that included these gimmick springs are also usually so fat that they rub upon the pushrod covers.
Good luck,
