Wreckman!
If you choose hydraulics, it doesn't matter if the pushrods are aluminum or steel.
If you choose a radical cam, you must choose solids as well.
If aluminum rods are used with solids, set them rather tight.
And install fresh tappet rollers of course!

Cotten,
Nothing radical. Sounds like hydraulic is the way to go for less trouble.
Thanks

Re: What Lifters?
I run hydraulics in my 65. Just put in new S&S steel hydraulic pushrods. They use the stock tappet screws and nuts. NOS parts sells the pushrod adjusting screws and nuts (9/32"-32). If you use something other than OEM style hydraulics, you need to follow the procedures for that particular brand when adjusting them out. TPI is not the same.

Please be certain that your choice of cam is indeed hydraulics-compatible, even if "mild".
(And beware that the traditional Andrews A-grind can cause OEM hydraulics to fail to fill at low RPM, in spite of the company's claims.)
