this is what I found.....
48-52 type panhead pushrod
these alum pushrods are from Colony...
they are made from 6063 T-832 drawn aluminum
the ends are .7oz, with the bigger end at .4oz and the smaller at .3oz
the alum type of pushrod without ends is 1.3oz with ends it is 2.0oz
if by chance the alum pushrod gets full of oil it would be 2.3oz
home made 4130.....
steel pushrod without ends is 3.0oz with ends 3.7oz
this is a difference of 1.7oz from alum to steel
just for reference......

Re: pushrod weight
Mike
Good analysis and great reference data.
I've been tied up at work but I'll try to get an OEM oil can in the mail to you on Thursday or Friday. I don't have anything in my shop that will weigh them at fractions of an ounce but you can tear it apart and do the same thing with the original. It will be interesting to see how the three different push rod assemblies will compare.

Your push rods are too heavy and will slow you down & you will not be able to keep up with the Twinkies!
