Tappet block question

#1

Post by doc308 »

I may need to replace the tappet blocks on a '48 pan. What year blocks will work OK on this engine. I'm running oem solid lifters and solid aluminum pushrods, so I'm assuming that oil feed/return holes don't matter (?). Would any modifications to other year blocks be necessary?

Thanks.

Cast iron blocks will drop right in, but you might consider having your originals honed for oversize tappets.

After all, your original tappets are probably worn anyway, and replacing the rollers is always prudent when their mileage is unknown with solids.
