Cylinder Head Bolt Insert

#1

Post by Ripley/Fla »

Can heads be repaired if the insert for a head bolt has been pulled loose from the head. Not raised up from poor torquing procedure, but yanked like a tooth? Thanks for any advice.

yes they can, the old insert is milled out and retaped for a insert that is screwed in and then a expander bolt is threaded into the new insert and it swells the OD of the insert out into the head, kinda like the ones STD and S&S use in there heads, had it done on my old head that was cracked right thru the old insert, it had to go to be welded properly....
