Re: Valve seals
Seals are a great idea, when used with soft cast iron guides and nitrided valvestems.
The tried-and-true variety is like OEM Chubbles': metal housed with only a wiper of teflon, viton, or whatever.
Often the guide must be sized for the seal, and the spring collar installed first.
Guide-to-stem clearances are also tightened up significantly from the historical specs: .0015" on the intake, and .0025" on the exhaust.
Please check your spring's free travel after installation.

Re: Valve seals
Jack!
I hate to trust to memory (fading.... .. ..),
but the tops of pan and early Chubble guides were something like .5625", so they get cut down to .530" to accept the seal.
Manley markets the cutters, and also the K-Line seals.
