solid push rod conversion

Post by pan58head »

Hello all I have a solid lifter conversion on my bike. It uses the springs and small cups. I'm just curious how you are adjusting them. I'm adjusting them like solids, just finger tight while spinning in my fingers. I'm thinking I should get rid of the springs and adjust them like soilds. Thanks Bob

Bob!

Your instincts are sound; pitch the idiot springs.

If the rods are aluminum, adjust them with as little clearance as possible and still keep compression.

Thanks Cotton, it didn't seem like the pushrods where tight enough with the springs. I readjusted the pushrods yesterday . The bike sounds better not as load your could hear the pushrods. Yes they are aluminum so I tighen them alittle more about a 1/8 turn part spinning. I also replaced all of the brand new blue seals that where leaking(from the start) with cork so far no leaks. Sometimes new is not always better Later Bob
