Cylinder height vs. manifold width

#1

Post by ogoki »

Hi guys,

Does anybody have experience running an EL bottom end with 0-ring heads?

I am still considering my options as to what to run in terms of flywheels and cylinders for this project I am slowly putting together (50EL cases and -55 heads).

I think that the 1/8" shorter cylinder height would require an almost 0.1" narrower manifold. I have never put one of these things together, but I don't imagine there is that much wiggle room.

Would this be more trouble than it's worth?

Thanks for any input.

ogoki,
If you do run into a clearance problem due to manifold width, you could always narrow up a stock width manifold on a lathe. It's a lot easier to make a manifold narrower than it is to make them wider :) .
