Robbie, can you post a picture of the tool used to install these? I made a tool but haven't used it yet.

Hi

Here is an advise for any type of circlips, spirolock, circlips, ect ...always install the opening of the clip, facing crankcase (opposite the top of pistons),hope this clear,

....reason,.....inertia force when explosion appearkinda hammer the piston down extremely fast, exercing pressure against the outer circlip groove keeping them secure in place, side opening of any circlip can end up with catastrophic failure, hope this help,Ray

You would be well advised to take Robbie up on the loan of his tool ! Many years ago I used my home made tool , it cost me a set of pistons ! .. I painted the broken pistons red and to this day have them in plain site on my bench to remind me why the right tool for every job is money well spent . ABSOLUTELY

When I saw the lock ring system on my new 48 pistons I ordered JIMS Tool 96780-52a. When I got it I realized that it wouldn't work. There was a slip of paper mentioning I.D.'s and spring clips and that 96780-32a was the tool for different diameter pins. I have ordered what I hope is the right tool.
