Newbie needs a little help. I have a 1956 Pan here in Venezuela that is consistently carbon fouling the plugs. Running an S&S E with .072 main jet and unknown size intermediate (no numbers). Have stock two into one exhaust with fishtail muffler. Timing, valves etc adjusted right. Using HD 3-4 plugs. Since I have to order jets and have 'em mailed here, any suggestions from seasoned pan-heads will be appreciated.
Also heard that the accel pump should be turned off with stock motor.
Thanks Guys
Mike

Welcome, as far as the carb, have you checked for a manifold leak? When your manifold sucks in air from a leak , you usually over adj. the mixture ( rich ) to compensate for it ( if ya have a leak that is )
Some turn the accelerator pump off only to check carb tuning, I kinda like the accelerator pump , no revving on start up from a light and such , good if your packing the o'lady.
I visited your country in the 70's , real nice , hope it hasn't changed.

I agree with Fourthgear, 1st test your intake for leaks
Turning off your accelerator pump is best for jetting purposes,
then turn it on very slowly, & only what it wants. Any more is a waste of GAS & it will wash oil off your cylinder walls.
Then your jetting for a stock, muffled 74" should be within,
Intermediate = .028 to .031
Main jet = .068 to .074
1 to 1 1/2 turns out on idle mix to start with..

28 intermediate
70 main
That should put you just a little bit rich on W.O.T.

Fourthgear & Sidecar hit on the head!!!! It sounds like a stock exhaust, a 28 int. jet is suffice ---I would put a 70 for main!--Remember you can always richen her up if needed at higher RPM, AS long as bike is reasonably-stock (camshaft?) you will run fine with this set-up! NO.1 thing to check FIRST--VACUUM_LEAK, throw you & motor for a loop. (Good-Luck)58flh
