Linkert Carb - Shovel head bars

#1

Post by Ripley/Fla »

I recently kicked the S&S habit and put on a Linkert with a 'Chopper Throttle Adaptor' in order to use my existing set-up and keep riding. Not good! I picked up a set of early Superglide bars with the internal throttle - but of course it is pull instead of push. If I can find a shovel left side spiral, will that be a push type? Does a Pan left side spiral fit the shovel bars. Thanks for any info!

Shovels didn't have a left. The same spiral was used on both sides from about 53 to at least 68. I don't have my 84 parts book handy, but there may have been a -74 spiral. The part you need is 56220-53 I'd bet.

Spirals are the same from left to right. The reason one pushes and one pulls is because they are both twisted towards the rider, making one operate in reverse. The -53 spiral pushes. It is quite common new, used, and repop. Probably a dozen on eBay right now!

There is a 56220-58 too, probably a pull type spiral.
