cottens float
so how do you attach your float lever to the new float,a screw and nut or what. would that not add exta weight

DURABLEs are machined to use the same little top-hat-shaped "pivot nut" and screw as your original cork or Armstrong float.
Thus their weight is accounted for...
Over the years, there were three lengths of these pivot nuts however, so occasionally either the float or the nut must be filed to where there is slight compression of the foam to hold it, as locking adhesives that survive USA fuels are rare.
The screw should bottom out firmly upon the nut.
Because modern reproduction pivot nuts and screws vary horribly as well, I commissioned a batch with precise lengths and diameters for a firm squeeze fit within the float itself, and over-length screws that could be clipped for addition security.
The pivot nut and screw is missing from any assembly that has had a brass float installed.
