Re: 54 FL - Carb
It would be an M74B with serifs on the "B".

Re: 54 FL - Carb
The obvious question would be then......what years would the M-74B without the serifs be for?

Re: 54 FL - Carb
Gaza!
An M74 is almost a one-year-only carb (last half of '50 and first half of '51, and actually worth significantly more than a common M74B (to someone who needs it.)
Biker_k!
I really haven't a firm answer (yet), other than the serif-less Bs came on the last few of years of Pans.
The major difference is that they have a choked lowspeed needle bore (or "well"), for whatever that's worth.

Re: 54 FL - Carb
My 56 FLH with 10k miles has the serif-less M74 B. Of course it could have been changed out over the years, but I kind of doubt it.Cotten wrote: I really haven't a firm answer (yet), other than the serif-less Bs came on the last few of years of Pans.

I'd like to thank everyone who responded - Thanks for the help - you guys are great and a credit to this site.
Cotton - In that case I'll use the M74 ... this is not a restoration but a "period custom" Juast need to get hold the correct strainer ...

Re: 1954 FL - correct carb
Just an update,
Here is a revised study of M74 series bodies and stamps: At the top is an M74;
Next I presume to be '51 only;
Third represents '52 to '54;
Fourth is '55, with a serif-less "B";
and fifth represents '56 and later.
Any other information would be greatly appreciated!
