sadlebag rivets

#1

Post by awander »

I have a set of leather bags on my '52 FL that are riveted to the "half-moon" style plates that boltto the fenders. I have been noticing that the rivets are pulling through the leather. i would like to replace hem-does anyone know where to get these rivets? they are about 1/2" long, and the small end is hollow, and split into (I think) 6 sections.

Andy!

If you cannot find a saddle-and-tack shop near you, it may be necessary to order from a supplier like http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/GSDRVSM?P ... 0062401603

The ends were split into a star by a rivet press, which is another good reason to search out a local pro.
I found that a common brake riveter works great.
