59 pan trumpet horn mounting ??

#1

Post by neilw »

I'm trying to figure how the strip on metal goes on by the distributor, but on top or bottom of the chrome thing bolted there now. I have the rest figured out. Oh yeah theres a treaded hole in the end that looks like it may secure the spark advance cable . I/m attaching 2 pics of what I have . Or if someone has a close up photo of this it would help. Ive searched all my pan photos but still dont see anything in detail.

Not sure if I attached it right and it is not the best photo. It looks like you have what you need but you are missing the clamp that holds the timer cable. It is secured to the threaded hole in the long bracket you have.

Personally, that horn always gets in the way when you service the bike. I kinda like seeing more of the motor without the horn.

Here's one with a relay, use your bracket with four holes and the cable clip, original threads are 1/4-24.

As panPal noted: "...that horn always gets in the way when you service the bike...."

Liberty charges a nuisance flat-rate for any machine that rolls in with a Jubillee horn.

Ahh, i had the same issue with how to mount
this bracket. Now i see that i am missing the
horn bracket, bracket, or what ever the first
piece that is attached does. What is the
upward bump for in the first bracket?

Blaine .if you are meaning the long bracket that is in my photo of the kit I got .the hump with the hole in it is where the bracket welded to the trumpet bolts to . My kit has a metal sleeve going through 2 rubber washers ,well not quite washers because one of the washers has a raised round part around the hole and the raised part on the rubber washer fits snuggly into the hole on the trumpet with a metal sleeve going through the center of it, on the other side is another rubber washer but it doesn't protrude through the hole . The metal sleeve goes throgh both washers and a bolt goes through the center where the metal sleeve is and attaches the bracket to the horn.
I hope this makes a little sense ,It was confusing to me untill after many questions . I can send a photo if you like . BTW you can buy horn kits aqfter market if you are missing lots of the parts.
