i have a kit that i got from old dude on my pan, as near as i can tell it is an exact replica.

by tightly woven loom do you mean the kind that looks more like cloth covering over the bundle? if so, i have a kit on my wla that was made by mv spares sold through old dude that has a tighter weave cover over the wires.

i have a couple of pieces of nos war era wiring that has the coarser covering on it to make things even more confusing.

i think they used whatever sub contractors provided during the war years.

either way, both of the replica kits i installed have tinned plastic insulated wire covered by cotton. it is a definate improvement over aged rubber covered wire that tends to crack no matter how careful you are with it!

try hummer emporium's web site and see if they have what you need. http://www.hummeremporium.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

or try old dude http://www.olddude.com/parts.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

One possibility if you do the wiring yourself and don't appreciate the repop cloth covered wiring is to look to pre-1950 or so junk cars. I am doing my bike with the tail-light and gas guage wires that ran through the body on a 1949 Plymouth parts car I have. Same color as Harley and very pliable. I put some Poly wipe wood finish on them to enhance the 'waterproofness" and the color returned as brand new. I don't know that mine are exactly the same tracers but very close from the pictures I see and 16 ga. [definitely better looking and I believe higher quality than the repop].

Bruce Lindsey does a nice job making cloth covered wire harnesses. I think he makes them for Olde Dude.
I have one on my 52 FL.

Bruce makes them for just about everyone. You can buy direct from him which I’ve always found cheaper. Bruce is a good guy that will work with you if you’re the meticulous type like me. Heres a pic of Bruce's weaveing loom. That thing is the coolest contraption I ever seen.

That is a great pic. For those of you in New England, Rhode Island Wiring http://www.riwire.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; does that type of work, they will do anything you want in any color or pattern. They also carry old style spark plug wire, Rajah connectors and all kinds of lugs. By the way, the very best braiding machines, like the one in the picture, used to be made in Rhode Island when stuff was still made in the USA.
