battery drain

#1

Post by ironbutt »

hey folks,
need some help, last couple of rides on my 56 were short. it started running pretty bad towards home, so when i got it in the garage i shut it off and turned the ignition back on, no lights no battery, the next morning i went down and turned the key and full lights. this happened a few times. i did flash the gen. when i put it back together. any clues ?
thanks

Could be many different things but a couple you can start with are 1. the battery, they will often go bad & not hold a charge. Letting it sit overnight it will gather a surface charge and can appear to have good voltage, but it falls right off once you put a load to it. 2. Make sure the gen is actually putting out and 3. try another regulator. Basic places to begin and good luck.
