Description: Am in need of basic wiring diagram for a 50 el (now fl)

great site....
Am in need of basic wiring diagram for a 50 el (now fl)
chopper project, the motor just came back from a total
rebuild and the frame's ready.
Also should I go the 12 volt or the 6 volt route?
roll on summer!!!!!!

I vote for 6 volt. I like the distinction of a low spark lamp coming through the glen...no mistake when someones sees you coming down the road...Hark!!!...it's an antique!

12 volt.
Here in Wisconsin, you must run a headlight all the time. I was told the 6 volt system was only designed for limited headlight usage. I like the 12 volt regulator that bolts on to the end of the generator. Very few wires that way.

An "Electric Frank" is a name for them. I don't ride much at nite, but they let you 6 volt it out here (with turn indicators). I'm not sure about running an OE style relay with my 6V 32E. I see electronic relays (that hide under OE style covers), but would sure hate to burn up an armature during the learning curve. I'm getting close to needing to know.

12v!!!, 6v bulb are quite hard to fine when you're on the road. To see and be seen is a minimum of security when riding after midnight hour Cool

Hi Guys,
Went 12 volt as its a hot rod now, picked up a couple of those frickin horrible pain in the arse blue Halogen oval spots....(.but you can see them for miles!)
Fabbed a new bracket sprayed it and the lamp housings
a nice metalflake grey ,,,,,and bingo!
