Wiring Question ??
I just finished wiring my 49 EL with an AM harness and converting to 12 volt at the same time. I left the generator wire unhooked till I checked things out. Everything worked great. My question is, is the generator wire supposed to be hot with the ignition off ? I double checked the wiring diagram and it shows it to be on the hot post on the ign switch.
Thanks a lot ,
Kevin

Re: Wiring Question ??
There is no cut out relay on the cycle electric . It's got the regulator on the end of the generator. I believe it's electronic.
Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Wiring Question ??
It should be hot all the time. At least it is on my 12v CE gen/reg. Don't forget to polarize!
Good luck, James

Re: Wiring Question ??
The electronic regulator has a built in diode that won't allow power from the battery to be passed to the generator when it's not in operation. Think of it as a check valve in a piping system. Bob L

Re: Wiring Question ??
Thanks, I was told that the CE with end cap reg does not need to be polarized. Thanks again

Re: Wiring Question ??
Per the instructions that came with the CE-540-L regulator,"To ensure proper regulation momentarily connect(flash) B&A terminals with jumper wire" .
Thanks, James
