10:1 pistons with an A cam?

Hi everybody, I searched earlier topics, but I could not find the info I need, and I hope you guys can help me. I am rebuilding my 1958 Panhead and I just put on a pair of STD heads and I will also put in a new cam and new pistons. Now to my question:
- Can I run an Andrews A grind with 10:1 pistons or will the static pressure be a problem? Has anybody here tried it?

I will run it on 98 octane and I have double plug heads, which I think would allow me to run a not to aggressive timing, thus enabling the setup. Any thoughts?

Swede, I had 10:1 Wisco pistons with an A grind in my 49 with no static comp problems. Make sure to let her warm up completly before twistin' the wick with forged pistons though, or it won't last..Mike

Thanks for you prompt reply Panacea. I am considering cast pistons due to less expansion when heating up. Does anybody have any thoughts on the subject?

What went wrong with your forged pistons, Panacea?

Like you suspected, forged pistons grow faster than the cast cylinders during warm up, which in itself would not be a big problem if you let it warm up slowly. But when you ocasionally ride with evos, they care less about such things. So the inevitable happens, jump on,kick twice,keep up....Or don't let them rush you! Mike
