Hey! New to the site, I like it alot. So....Will a Bendix carb work ok on my 55 pan?

Will it work? Sure! How well?? Who knows... I've never had much luck with them but YMMV.. Get you a nice rebuilt Linkert and be done.

i have a '55 too. i have tried every carb except a SU and finally put it back to stock with a linkert M74B. (and lotsa help from our resident linkert expert!)

never ran better!

Hi Bojac and welcome. I ran a bendix carb on my 56 for years. It worked great. I finally had to replace it because the bowl cracked. I went to the S&S Super B. The only thing with the Super B is the lack of an accelerator pump. Other than that it worked great. I just finished rebuilding my motor bringing it up to 90 ci. In the process I added an aftermarket bowl to the Super B that has the acellerator pump. I prefer the Super B but the bendix in my opinion would be my second choice so if you already have the bendix by all means go with it.

There are no bad brands of carburetors,
just some are more complicated than others.

Any of them can be expensive.
So the question becomes whether you want to 'spend', or 'invest'.

There is only one that will enhance the value of your machine, and that is the one it came with.

Cotten makes a good point. If you are restoring what it came with is the way to go.

Yep. if your restoring it ,Linkert, but if you want a very good performing carb , use a CV 40 .

I have them on two Pan's ( one is stroked) & once dialed in , nothing else will match there performance & fuel milage.

The Bendex will work , just have to dial it in also.
