Air cleaner spring clip
I have a question about the proper assembly of the J-slot air cleaner on a 1952 FL with Linkert carb. Does the spring clip go behind the mesh with the V pressing against the backing plate, and the ends going the mesh cage or does it go in front of the mesh with the V pressing against the outer cover and the ends going across the mesh cage? Or do the ends press on the backing plate or cover with the V facing the inside of the mesh?

The "V" type spring thingy faces out and presses against the stainless steel cover. (52)
So the point of the spring is against the cover and the ends are connected to the mesh frame. ya falla?

Re: Air cleaner spring clip
Thanks, that's the way I have it installed. I saw a picture that had the parts laid out like an exploded view in order of assembly and it showed the backing plate, then the spring-clip then the mesh and then the cover and wondered if I had mine wrong. I'll leave mine as is with the spring-clip between the mesh & outer cover.

Re: Air cleaner spring clip
If you look at it logically it has to face out, otherwise it is BLOCKING half of the carb throat!
