Sidecar brakes

#1

Post by r2276b »

Ok, here's one for you experts.I removed the sidecar off my 59 Panhead
last year. The brakes were working fine. I reinstalled it last week,
and now the sidecar brake wants to pull me to the right. The bikes
rear brake was working fine as a solo. I bled both the sidecar and the
bike rear after installation. Could it possibly still be some air in the system
What's the deal?

Factory literature says something like: "If you run a brake, it will hard to the right; If you don't it will pull gently to the left."

I'd guess that your brake was only partially working and now works proper.

PS: I took mine off. My wife handles it fine.

Doh! A double post and I can't delete.

I guess I'll post a pic of my wife's hack with the doorbell aboard. Without a brake, there is room for a spare.

Also, I can't remember what position my adjustable forks need to be in for sidecar use.

r2276b!

The forks swing forward for hack duty. The 45710-58 'position tabs' will be moved to the front of the elongated holes in the bottom tree.

And don't forget to tighten the dampener a lot.

JohnHD!

The neo-Gothic chair was just alley-scrounged. I shall have to make modeling clay molds from remaining portions of the carving to cast 'Dura-bond' repairs, but it will be worth it: It's got such great "attitude".

Then my wife will claim it from me.
