Glide Front Brake

You may have to grind the tip-end off the cable stop before the keeper in the lever will fit over the cable-stop. You can see how mine is uneven on the tip. Keep the strands tight. A mechanic suggested melting the clevis-end of the cable with a torch to keep the stands together. There is one pix missing and that's of how the cable must have the donut spacer that goes into the threaded hole of the side (backing) plate.

And another. 8) This is the front brake kit you want for a '49-66 Glide if you have no parts at all (VT 23-9218). Order axle separately.
6/11/05 You will need to arc-sand the front brake shoes on a piece of 180 grit emery paper, glued to a 2x4 works best. Make hash marks across the lining using a magic marker. Sand your hash marks off with a rocking motion. Then do it again. Do it four times to each shoe, then install the shoes and see if your drum fits. If not, repeat.
