I have two front brake backing plates both with the same -49 # cast inside them. However, they are different. I'm trying to figure out which is correct for a '50. One has a hole just below and to the right of the axle hole. The other does not. Also, the one with the hole has the oil deflector. Anyone have any insight on this?
Here are some pictures.

Surely this is not a stumper. Could you guys look at your original early pans and tell me if yours has the hole or not. Thanks

Re: front brake backing plates??
The grease deflector was used from '49-'66. It was eliminated on the '67-'68 backing plate due to the use of the new sealed bearings. The '69-'71 plate also does not have it but is right handed. Its entire purpose along with the hole was to eliminate excess grease from overzealous maintenance by owners.

Re: front brake backing plates??
so it sounds like I need the weep hole on my '50. Does that mean the other is a '49 only thing?
