checking valve clearance

hey yall how do you check the valve clearance on your pan!!! do you pull the motor or tip it to the side to... i cant get the valve covers off with the motor in the frame? any tips thanks panman

hey panhead thanks i checked the k.b. and say that post but i wanted to put a feeler gage on them which means removing the cover!!! i just pulled the jugs and heads free'd the top ring on both cyl. and put new gaskets in... i left the covers off and set the manifold and torqued everything i was just wondering if there were any tricks to putting the covers back on!!! i geuss i'll just tilt the motor.

Uh,
feeler gauges are for Flatties.

You can put it back together now.
