Valve seats.

I have a set of '48 heads with the original bronze? seats, with quite a bit of recession. I've heard a few horror stories of straight cut replacement seats falling out from uneven expansion rates. What is the best method to replace these and who does it? Is it something a competent auto machine shop can do with the right materials?
