1954 Speedometer, abused...?
A Scan of the Speedometer on my 1954FL, the Speedometer-Housing is original HD, but what in **** did the former Users to the Internals...?
Is there a Chance to fix/rebuild it to original Specifications, I need some Help/Advice...?
Michael
P.S. I am aware about the "Reproductions" for this Speedo, poor Taiwan-Crap, not on my 54FL, I like to get the Speedo restored...

54 speedo
You could check on Ebay for the Ebay user "speedo rat" from eastern Canada. I picked one up from him for my 54, all gone thru and warranty for a year. There are other speedo shops in the Us. I dont have thier contact but surely some one could list a couple more here. Speedo Rat also would take your speedo and possibly rebuild it or trade in is another option.

yes micheal,
that looks correct, on my '55 the 1/10 trip numbers are black on white.
keep in mind that during the '50's you could go to a harley dealer and have the color of the silk screening changed by exchanging the glass. i have seen red, blue, gold and white backgrounds.
when i had mine assembled i considered going with red to match my bike, i opted for the original black. i think it looks better.
