Can Someone Tell Me What Color This Is? '50 Pan.

Gang,
I posted a few weeks back about my "multi-colored" pan. Since then I have been searching all over the net for a close color match and I found one. I remember seeing this bike months back on a Japanese website. It says it's a 1950, but was this color offered in '50? Since this bike looks quite original. It looks like '47 Delphine Blue.....

Here's another thought. Has anyone ever known Harley to paint a late model year bike a "next year" paint? The original paint on my late '50 closely resembles a '51 Rio Blue.

I'm very curious of what you experts think.

Thanks!!

We are having paint reruns.
Azure blue and Riveria blue were the only factory blues in 50, your bike is not a 50 color.
Harley painted bikes custom colors in the 40's and 50's, this is quite rare but it did hapen and there are examples in Palmers.
Lots of guys and lots of bikes were painted custom colors in those days by the 1st owner, 2nd owner, ..., this is probably what happened to your bike.
If you want a 50 color use Azure blue or Riveria blue.
If you like the color you have thats ok too, it's your bike you can have any color you want.

Yes, I know I'm rehashing an already covered subject.

But..... since the example bike above was being advertised as a '50, I was a bit confused.

And yes, I know Azure and Riviera blue are the only correct blues for my year.......

Youll probably never match it with harley colors because it isnt a harley color.Who knows what he painted it.I would never paint my 54 any of the 54 colors because I dont like any of them.Especially yellow.

That's my issue as well, Hog. I'm not a big fan of any of the '50 factory paint colors.

Guess since I don't plan on having a 100 point AMCA judged bike, I should just do what 1950panhead suggested and just paint it a color I like. But in a small way, I'd love to keep it as original as I could. She made it 61 years without being modified, I'd love to keep it that way.

tcb,
I'm not a big "blue" fan, nor am I a paint expert, but the japanese bike looks like a weathered Azure Blue to me. Sun, and cleaning chemicals, and time, and whatever, have a way of changing the color. The longer its been on there, the more it changes. Here's a pretty bike, its supposed to be Azure Blue.

Considering the myriad of differences in cameras, monitors, lighting conditions , etc, I wouldn't be too judgmental
of paint colors based on web pictures. Up close, in person evaluations are the way to go.
Putting that aside, it's your bike, as Blind Faith put it , .. "Do What You Like ".
