58 rear fender
Hi, I have a question that relates to the rear fender tip for a 58 pan. was there one? I know the factory possibly used the 59's when they became available later in 58. So that leaves 57 since that plastic front piece was available 57 & 58 is either 57 right or wrong? I'm just trying to nail it down as correct as possible since its a ground up restoration and some details drive me nuts.
New to the site, nice to see people into the ol stuff! Thanks!!

Northman,
The rear tip is not required unless you have the King Of The Highway package. However they look awesome.

Hey, thanks for the info. My 52-61 parts catalog don't have the #'s listed, so thats part of my confusion. it is in another source that gives the list of group 5 king pkg. as you stated.

Re: 58 rear fender
Carl,
One of the Must Have books is Palmers "How to restore your Harley-Davidson motorcycle". I looked yesterday in it (I have the Google on-line book) and on the standard '58 nothing on the rear. I think there's two pictures of '58's. Palmer's book has so my information it's mind boggling. (There's supposed to be a new one that was supposed to come out this month.)
One of the minor items I'm hung up on right now is Fender Trim (for my "sorta" '57). I'm really surprised that even in the '50's some of the fender trim was plastic. (Per Bruce Palmer)

I think that trim is one of the sharper looking fender trim's . I think the reproduction wheeled wing looked good enough to put on my ride.

I got my trim off of EBay. I looked and there is one i saw there at $95. 4 years ago when I got one it was under 40 so it might be worth waiting to find a better deal.
