Re: HydraGlide fender emblems
one year: 1955 (jump in here John and flash your badge!), they were probably owner installed on later models as accessory items but they would have only been correct on 1956 & 1957 bikes, after 1958 they were Duo-Glides.
The http://www.hydra-glide.net icon is also a one-year item: 1954, the 1955 version did not have the 50th annivesary I.D. on it

Re: HydraGlide fender emblems
The HydraGlide emblem has a 1950 part number, 91582-50, the old Deluxe emblem was 91583-46 and the new Deluxe OHV emblem was 91583-52. The HydraGlide emblem came out to recognize the new front end introduced in '49. It was soon replaced by the Deluxe OHV emblem which was included in the deluxe package as well as on its own.

dan
palmer's covers it pretty well. as robbie said they were available as an accessory. i have seen both of the later side fender badges on all sorts of '50's bikes. most of them were probably owner installed.
the top fender badges were one year only and different for '54 and '55 as mike pointed out.
if any of you have other photos post them so we can see the whole collection! (including the "birds" and "rockets" "stripes" etc. let's see if we can get them all !!)

Re: HydraGlide fender emblems
sorry Dan, I thought you were only talking about the fender top emblems like the icon used for this forum. Here's the emblem for the side of the fender, as Robbie mentioned it came out in 1950, same year that they started stamping Hydra-Glide in the fork tins.
