51 to 54 pan tanks

Am restoring my 54FL which has 51-53 hand shift tanks. Will be running a 3speedreverse tranny with hand shift on bike.
I'm having difficulty locating a set of 54 hand shift tanks. My options are:

Run the 51-53 tanks. Can the bottom trim mounts on these tanks be hidden without ruining the originality of the tanks?

Find a swap for my 54 foot shift tanks for hand shift tanks.

Go repop.

Swap the 51-53 tanks for 54 tanks.

All thoughts appriciated.

I'm sure there is someone here that would do some sort of swap, but you'll need to upload some pictures.
And again, don't butch the tanks to make them something they are not supposed to be.

Run the 53 tanks until you locate the correct 54 tanks. Don't fiddle around with aftermarket tanks.

I have some handshift tanks that have had the mounts removed. I'm not sure of the year, but I was going to put mounts on them for my 53. If you're interested, maybe we could work something out.

Thanks for replies. Will not modify 51-53 tanks. Pictures soon as tanks are still mounted. open to swaps for unmodified 54 tanks.
